Rajesh’s journey – from humble beginnings in India to senior leadership roles in business and public service in the United Kingdom – is a story of resilience, determination and long-term impact.
He served two successful terms as Deputy Mayor of London for Business, where he championed economic growth, job creation and international investment. During his tenure, he played a key role in advancing workplace standards through the Mayor’s Good Work Standard and promoting the London Living Wage, significantly improving conditions for working Londoners.
Alongside this role, Rajesh chaired London & Partners, led London’s Jobs & Skills Partnership Board, and served as Deputy Chair of the London Economic Action Partnership (LEAP), helping shape London’s economic strategy and align skills provision with future industry needs. Internationally, he represented London at major global forums, including the Urban20 Summit, part of the G20.
As Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Fairgrowth, Rajesh has built an ecosystem spanning strategic advisory, venture investment and policy insight, focused on inclusive, sustainable and innovation-led growth. Through Fairgrowth Ventures, he backs founders building high-potential businesses in frontier and deep technologies, including space, artificial intelligence, quantum computing and energy systems, combining capital with hands-on strategic support and global networks.
Beyond Fairgrowth, Rajesh plays an active role in shaping dialogue at the intersection of business, policy and technology. He is Chair of Labour Friends of India, strengthening ties between the UK Labour Party, the British Indian community and India, and Chair of Space4Labour, advancing engagement between policymakers, industry and academia on the UK’s space and frontier technology ambitions. He is also Co-chair of the Business Advisory Board at the University of East London, supporting the alignment of education, skills and innovation with the needs of the economy and society.
Rajesh is deeply committed to social impact and opportunity. His philanthropic work has included supporting young entrepreneurs through The Prince’s Trust, rural entrepreneurs through Oxfam, and women entrepreneurs through the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women.
His contributions have been recognised through several honours, including an Honorary Fellowship from the University of East London and being named a Freeman of the City of London.
